Saudi starts Skill Verification Program for Indian Job Seekers
Saudi Arabia, a popular destination for Indian expatriates seeking employment, is set to introduce a new recruitment process.
As part of this change, prospective Indian workers will now undergo skill tests before being offered job opportunities in the country.
Skill Verification Program (SVP) Initiates its First Phase
The Skill Verification Program (SVP), initiated in 2021, has commenced its first phase. This program aims to assess the skills of workers prior to their appointment.
Although currently implemented in selected areas, the SVP is gradually expanding its coverage.
Mandatory Testing for 19 Sectors Under SVP
Under the SVP, workers in 19 sectors are now required to undergo mandatory skill tests.
This verification process is applicable to various professions, including plumbers, pipe fitters, building electricians, welders, and automotive electricians.
Additionally, it applies to roles such as underwater welders, blacksmiths, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning mechanics.
Enhancing Workforce Efficiency and Ensuring Quality Standards
The implementation of skill tests aims to enhance the efficiency of the workforce and ensure adherence to quality standards.
By assessing the capabilities of Indian workers, Saudi Arabia seeks to align job placements with the skills and expertise required for each specific sector.
Expansion Plans for Skill Verification Program
With the successful commencement of the first phase of the SVP, Saudi Arabia intends to expand the program to encompass a wider range of job categories.
