Hyderabad wakes up to rain; Bringing Waterlogging Woes; IMD Issues Alert

Hyderabad: Hyderabad woke up to rain on Tuesday morning, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. The rain was accompanied by thunder and lightning, and it is likely to continue throughout the day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, indicating that moderate to heavy rain is likely at isolated places. The alert is in place for Wednesday and Thursday.

As per data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), while the city witnessed wind speeds up to 21 knots, the rest of the state recorded wind speeds up to seven knots. The low-pressure rains are crucial for the state.

The rain has caused waterlogging in some low-lying areas, but there have been no reports of any major damage. The traffic police have advised motorists to be careful and to avoid driving through waterlogged areas.

For Hyderabad, the department has forecasted that all six zones – Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally – will experience light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers until July 19. It has also predicted intense spells of rainfall in the city.

Meanwhile, moderate rains lashed North Telangana districts with up to 10mm rains in Mulugu, 9mm rains in Kothagudem and 8mm rains in Mahbubnagar.

The rain is a welcome relief for the city, which has been experiencing a dry spell in recent weeks. The rain is also expected to help to improve the water supply in the
city.

However, the rain could also cause some problems, such as waterlogging and traffic jams. Citizens are advised to be careful and to take precautions.
