WATCH | Top Congress Leaders Met CEO Vikas Raj

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (Maxim News): The Congress party has expressed concerns to the Election Commission (EC) about the BRS-led state government’s potential violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). In a letter to the EC, the Congress has alleged that the government is attempting to distribute around Rs 6000 crores of Rythu Bandhu financial assistance to favored contractors, possibly for personal gains, just before the formation of a new state government.

The Congress has claimed that the government’s intention to disburse the Rythu Bandhu funds during the MCC period is against the EC’s guidelines. Congress leader Uttam Kumar Reddy has raised concerns about the irregular payments of Rs. 6,000 crores being made to preferred contractors, deviating from the usual order of payments to those awaiting their dues. These alleged irregularities are reportedly taking place during the last few days of the current government’s tenure, while the MCC is in effect.

Additionally, the Congress has raised concerns regarding the transfer of title deeds of assigned lands in Ranga Reddy, Sanga Reddy, and Medchal districts using the Dharani portal. The Congress has alleged that these lands are being transferred to proxies of the chief minister’s family members.

In light of these concerns, Uttam Kumar Reddy has urged the EC to intervene and instruct the state chief secretary to ensure proper procedures are followed, preventing potential misuse of power by the current government during the MCC period. He has emphasized the importance of upholding the MCC, especially during the crucial final days before the vote counting on December 3, Sunday, which will determine the fate of over 2000 candidates in the election.
