Hyderabad, December 27: BRS senior leader Dr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar accused the Congress Government of using the Praja Palana program, designed to receive applications for various schemes, as a mere eyewash. Sravan contends that this tactic is an attempt to stall the implementation of the six guarantees that the Congress party had committed to delivering to the people.

In a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Sravan strongly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for making serious allegations against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and the previous BRS regime. Sravan emphasized that Revanth Reddy’s tone and language are unbecoming of the stature associated with his current position. He urged the Chief Minister to refrain from making political comments during official programs, especially in the presence of other ministers and senior officials. Despite this advice, Sravan noted that Revanth Reddy persisted in launching personal attacks on former CM KCR and other BRS leaders.

Sravan accused the Congress Government of deceiving the people under the guise of receiving applications for the six guarantees. He questioned the necessity of soliciting fresh applications for ongoing schemes, citing examples such as the Aasra pension of Rs 2,000 per month, already benefiting nearly 44 lakh people. According to Sravan, the Congress Government simply needs to fulfill its promise by doubling the amount to Rs 4,000 for existing beneficiaries. Similarly, he called for an increase in the Rythu Bandhu amount to Rs 15,000 and the provision of gas cylinders for Rs 500 to all ration cardholders, leveraging existing data from the Civil Supplies Corporation. Instead of promptly implementing these schemes, Sravan alleged that the Congress Government was adopting a protracted approach, causing unnecessary delays.

Regarding promises made during elections, Sravan pointed out that Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders had urged people not to pay their electricity bills, promising a waiver of all bills. He questioned their silence on these promises now and highlighted Revanth Reddy’s commitment to depositing Rs 15,000 into farmers’ accounts for Rythu Bandhu on December 9, with no action taken as of December 27.

BRS leaders anticipate that the Congress Government will initiate the drama of accepting applications from December 28 to January 6, followed by delays in scrutiny, application revision, and final beneficiary list preparation. Sravan predicts that these delays will persist until the announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule, at which point implementation will be halted, citing the Model Code of Conduct. Consequently, Sravan asserts that the Congress Government is insulting voters by postponing the implementation of the six guarantees it initially promised to deliver immediately upon assuming power.

Sravan has accused Congress leaders of making deliberate attempts to tarnish the reputation of the previous BRS Government by falsely alleging a significant burden of debt on the state. He specifically pointed to Revanth Reddy’s efforts to defame Telangana by informing Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the state was financially bankrupt. According to Sravan, these allegations are not only intended to sling mud at BRS but also to evade the fulfillment of electoral promises.

In response to these accusations, Sravan raised a compelling question, stating, “If Telangana State is truly experiencing a financial crisis, why has the Congress Government spent public funds on front-page advertisements in newspapers across India to announce the release of the application form? Is this not a wasteful expenditure of public money?“

Sravan vehemently refuted Revanth Reddy’s claim about Telangana’s bankruptcy. He emphasized that BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao, in a comprehensive power-point presentation, clarified that the previous regime had successfully created assets worth Rs 50 lakh crore for Telangana, contributing to its status as an economically vibrant state. Sravan criticized the Congress Government for levelling baseless allegations against BRS leaders as a tactic to mask their own inefficiencies and lack of commitment to implementing the promised six guarantees.

He proposed that if the present Secretariat, constructed by the previous regime, is considered redundant, the Congress Government should convert it into a world-class public hospital named Dr. BR Ambedkar Super Specialty Hospital. Similarly, he recommended transforming Pragathi Bhavan into an integrated educational hub or an orphanage, aligning with promises made by the Congress party when the current Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy was PCC chief.

Similarly, he questioned why the same leaders who previously raised a hue and cry about Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of the Telangana Chief Minister, are now using it for themselves. He challenged Revanth Reddy’s reluctance to stay in Pragathi Bhavan or any other government building, questioning the need to construct a new camp office if he is genuinely concerned about the misuse of public funds. Sravan concluded by stating that Revanth Reddy lacks an understanding of the value associated with the post of Chief Minister. Sravan alleged that Revanth Reddy, who ascended to the PCC President and Chief Minister positions through “payment quotas”, has no right to criticize former CM KCR or any BRS leader. He demanded that the Congress Government promptly begin implementing all promises made to the people without any further delay or excuses. (Maxim News)
