YS Sharmila Likely to Join Congress on Jan 4

YS Sharmila | Hyderabad, January 2 (Maxim News): In an important political move, YS Sharmila, who is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and also the founder-president of the YSR Telangana Party, is expected to join the Congress on January 4.

This comes after the recent success of the Congress party in the Telangana Assembly elections, breaking the dominance of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the state.

A meeting has been called by YS Sharmila with party leaders today, where they will likely discuss the plan to merge with the Congress and talk about future activities.

Sharmila had already shown her support for the Congress party before the Telangana Assembly elections. She chose not to run in the polls on November 30 to avoid dividing votes that could have favored former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

“I am supporting the Congress party because they have a good chance of winning in the Telangana Assembly elections,” she said. Sharmila pointed out her dissatisfaction with KCR’s leadership, mentioning unfulfilled promises during his nine-year term. Her decision not to contest aimed to unite support for the Congress and avoid splitting votes.

“As YSR’s daughter, I am supporting the Congress’ chance. In more than 55 constituencies, my decision will impact the Congress vote,” YS Sharmila emphasized. (Maxim News)
