Andhra Pradesh had previously filed a petition against the use of water from Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects for power generation and other purposes without permits.  The petition was heard by a bench headed by Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Augustine George Masi. Additional Solicitor General Aishgwarya Bhatia told the court that they will file a fresh affidavit after taking appropriate instructions from the Centre.

Andhra Pradesh has already said that it is willing to bring Krishna River Basin projects under the purview of KRMB.  The Telangana government has filed an affidavit expressing its reluctance on the same issue.

In this context, the lawyers of both states said that the Center should decide by the views of both governments.  However, the Additional Solicitor General for the Center (KRMB said there were some technical reasons for issuing the notification.  It was explained to the court that appropriate instructions and directions should be taken from the Center in this regard.  After hearing these arguments, the apex court adjourned the further hearing to August 20.  It has issued instructions to the Center to file an affidavit before that.  (Maxim News)
