DCA Raids Unlicensed Premises For Illegal Sell Of Steroids To Body Builders

Hyderabad, Sept 20 (Maxim News): Acting on credible information on the illegal sale of steroid medicines to gym-goers, the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided an unlicensed premises operating under the name Rakesh Distributor at Esamia Bazar Koti and detected an unauthorized stock of a large quantity of steroid medicines for sale.

During the raids, the DCA officials found 22 varieties of steroid medicines, including androgen and anabolic steroids, stocked for sale at the premises.

Indicating the potential for abuse of steroid medicines. The abuse of androgen and anabolic steroids poses significant health risks. These drugs, often misused by bodybuilders to enhance muscle growth, can lead to a range of adverse effects,  including cardiovascular issues, liver damage, mood swings, and hormonal imbalances. Moreover, long-term abuse can result in severe health complications such as infertility, kidney failure, and psychiatric disorders, the DCA said.

Stock worth Rs. 2 lakhs was seized during the raid carried out by V.Ajay, Drugs Inspector, Goshamahal and P. Santosh, Drugs Inspector,  Mehdipatnam, and others. 

In another instance, the DCA officials raided Srikanth Neurocentre, a hospital located at Miyapur, and found Dr. Boini Srikanth Yadav was illegally operating a medical shop in the hospital without a valid drug license.

During the raid, unauthorized stocking of huge quantities of medicines for sale were detected and stocks of 31 varieties of medicines worth Rs.  1.01 lakhs were seized. 

A.Shyalaja Rani, Drugs Inspector, Serilingampally, and D.Swetha Bindu, Drugs Inspector, Gandipet were among the officers who carried out the raid. (Maxim News)
