Telangana Govt. Likely To Hike Liquor Prices

Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News): The government is getting huge income from liquor in Telangana. The government hopes to earn huge revenue from alcohol this year as well. As part of that, it is reported that there is a hike in the price of liquor. Generally, the government increases the prices paid to beer producers every two years. Also this time on different types of liquor, the government asked the Breweries to increase between Rs. 20 to Rs. 150.

Every year during Bathukamma and Dussehra, sales of liquor in the state are increasing hugely. This time too, the drug addicts continued the same trend and set a huge record. In just 10 days, more than Rs, 1,100 crores of drugs were consumed. Excise officials say that liquor sales worth one thousand crores were done in ten days. Along with bars and liquor stores, sales also increased in pubs. As a result, alcohol brought huge revenue to the government treasury. As always, Hyderabad is at the top in liquor sales. There are 2,260 liquor shops, 1,171 bars and restaurants in the state. In addition to these, the sale of alcohol is continuing in pubs.

Excise officials say that 10.44 lakh cases of liquor worth Rs, 1,100 crore were sold from the beginning of October to the 11th of October, while Rs. 2,838 crores were sold till September 30, and 17.59 lakh beers were sold within 10 days. In terms of liquor sales, Ranga Reddy is at the top while Karimnagar, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts are in the next three positions.

However, the government gave more priority to the Agriculture section when the budget was introduced. However, after the budget session,  it is known that the Telangana government is going to take a sensational decision. There must be alcohol for festivals, weddings, and other auspicious events. During the election period, The Telangana government is going to give a big shock to liquor addicts who are enjoying themselves with alcohol. The government’s decision to increase the liquor revenue of the State Excise Department to an additional Rs. 5,318 crore has been widely criticized.  (Maxim News)
