Illegal Drug Manufacturing Uncovered in Sangareddy: ₹2 Crore Worth of Medicines Seized

Hyderabad, Jan 2 (Maxim News): The Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) raided a pharmaceutical unit Akron Formulations India in the Bollaram locality of Sangareddy and found that the unit was manufacturing drugs without any permission. The authorities have seized such drugs whose market value is estimated to be around Rs. 2 crores.

DCA director-general VB Kamalasan Reddy said the raiding teams found that the unit was manufacturing ointments and creams, including Asper Flex Cream Topical Analgesic Cream, Medpura and different varieties of Ammonium locate cream, and lotions manufactured for Akron Pharma, Fairfield, New Jersey, United States.

Drugs can only be manufactured under a license in compliance with the standards prescribed under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Further investigation will be conducted, and action will be taken in accordance with the law against all offenders involved. Drugs manufactured without a license may not meet quality standards, and these products may pose serious risks to public health.

Manufacturing drugs without a drug license is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act with imprisonment of up to five years, Reddy said.  (Maxim News)
