Hyderabad, Feb 25 (Maxim News): The South Central Railway (SCR) has upgraded its UTS mobile app to support digital payments through various platforms, including Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services. Passengers can now conveniently purchase unreserved tickets using popular digital payment options such as R-Wallet, Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, UPI apps, and internet banking.
As part of this initiative, the R-Wallet feature on the UTS app allows users to deposit up to ₹20,000. To encourage digital adoption, SCR is offering a 3% cashback on tickets purchased using R-Wallet.
Growing Popularity of the UTS App
According to an SCR press release, the UTS app has witnessed a significant rise in usage among passengers. From April 2023 to January 2024, the app recorded an average of 83,510 daily users. In the current financial year (2024-25), that number has grown to an average of 93,487 passengers per day, marking a 12% increase in usage.
Convenient Ticket Booking from Anywhere
In a major relief for passengers, the earlier distance restrictions for purchasing general tickets through the app have been lifted. This allows rail users to book journey and platform tickets from any location, eliminating the need to stand in long queues at ticket counters.
Key Features of the UTS App
The UTS app is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows operating systems and can be downloaded free of cost. It offers a user-friendly interface with several convenient features, including:
- Multi-language support for better accessibility.
- Cashless transactions for seamless payments.
- A dedicated Help tab offering customer support, including:
- A step-by-step user guide.
- Helpline numbers.
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
With these advancements, the SCR aims to make ticket booking more accessible and hassle-free for passengers while encouraging the adoption of digital payments. (Maxim News)
