One Law For Akbaruddin Owaisi, Another For Poor?” Ramachandra Rao Slams HYDRA Over Illegal College Building
Hyderabad, July 7 (Maxim News): BJP President Ramachandra Rao has strongly criticized the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HYDRA) and questioned what he described as selective justice in the case of Fatima Owaisi College, allegedly linked to AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
In a scathing statement, Ramachandra Rao alleged that HYDRA was practicing double standards—protecting illegal constructions tied to powerful politicians, while turning a blind eye to the plight of ordinary citizens, particularly those living in low-income settlements along the Musi River.
“Is there one law for Akbaruddin Owaisi and another for poor and middle-class citizens?” Rao asked.
He demanded the immediate demolition of the illegally constructed college building, which he claims violates multiple urban planning regulations. Referring to the recent evacuations of homes built along the Musi River, Rao accused HYDRA of showing unfair bias and acting selectively based on political pressure.
“Thousands of poor families living near the Musi have been forced to vacate, and homes built through a lifetime of hard work are being bulldozed. But a building linked to a powerful MLA is allowed to stand untouched. Is this justice?” Rao said.
The BJP leader also questioned Akbaruddin Owaisi’s silence on the issue and demanded to know whether he cared about the safety and welfare of students studying in the college or the thousands of residents at risk due to flooding in Musi catchment areas.
He warned that if HYDRA fails to act, the BJP would mobilize public support and take action on behalf of the people.
“If HYDRA won’t demolish it, we will. This is about justice, equality, and the law,” he declared.
The remarks come amid heightened political tension around encroachments and illegal constructions in Hyderabad, with environmental concerns and flood risks putting pressure on urban authorities to act uniformly and transparently.
