Hyderabad, July 7 (Maxim News): Health and Family Welfare Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has issued strict instructions to medical department officials to ensure full preparedness in government hospitals, particularly with the monsoon season triggering a rise in seasonal illnesses.
In a comprehensive review meeting held at the Secretariat today, the Minister emphasized the need for prompt procurement of medical and diagnostic equipment, hospital furniture, and life-saving medicines, especially for the newly constructed TIMS Hospitals and Warangal Super Speciality Hospital.
“All essential medicines must be available in hospitals, and diagnostic services must not be outsourced. Patients should not be sent outside for even a single test,” the Minister stressed.
He directed that equipment to be procured must reflect state-of-the-art technology to meet the future demands of healthcare delivery. Special instructions were issued to TGMSIDC officials to maintain a minimum three-month stock of essential medicines in central medical stores.
Highlighting patient comfort, he said furniture should be purchased keeping in mind the practical needs of doctors, staff, and patients, with a focus on quality and quantity.
The Minister also took stock of diagnostic testing facilities, directing that CT scan machines are now available in all government medical colleges, and that MRI machines must be installed wherever needed, using government-allocated funds. He urged for the expedited procurement and installation of MRI equipment.
He further instructed that platelet separation machines must be tested for full functionality and ordered that all T-Diagnostics Hubs be equipped to perform a wide range of tests with 24-hour report delivery timelines. PHCs must collect samples for required tests and ensure quick processing without referring patients to external labs.
The Minister reminded officials that dedicated medical stores had been set up in each district last year, and permanent buildings are under construction. He directed that the construction work be completed quickly to enhance medicine availability across Telangana.
“We must be prepared to serve every patient, especially in this high-risk season. No patient should face a shortage of care or diagnostics due to lack of planning,” the Minister concluded.
