Man Arrested With Rs. 6.58 Lakh In Bangladeshi Currency
Adilabad/Hyderabad, July 8, 2025 (Maxim News): Two government employees were arrested in Adilabad on Monday evening for allegedly cheating a woman by forging documents related to a government-allotted house site.
According to Adilabad DSP L. Jeevan Reddy, the arrested individuals — Konduri Gangadhar, a Class IV employee at the Zilla Parishad office, and Devalla Goverdhan, a senior assistant in the town employment office — created fake house site documents and sold them to a local woman, Thakur Swarupa Rani, in 2006.
The site in question had already been allotted to Ameeruddin by the government in the same year. However, the accused forged the ownership records and misrepresented the property as available for sale. They collected Rs. 65,000 from Swarupa Rani for the fake deal.
During police interrogation, both Gangadhar and Goverdhan confessed to fabricating the site documents in an attempt to make quick money. They admitted to approaching Swarupa Rani through her husband, Ravinder Singh, who was employed in Adilabad at the time.
The case has sparked concerns about fraudulent land transactions involving insiders in government departments. Authorities are now probing whether the duo was involved in other similar scams.
The police have filed a case and further investigation is underway.
