Resolve Public Grievances Promptly, Commissioner R.V. Karnan Directs GHMC Officials
Hyderabad, July 28, 2025 (Maxim News) — Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R.V. Karnan has instructed officials to resolve public grievances received through Prajavani and other forums without delay. During a public hearing held at the GHMC headquarters, the Commissioner personally reviewed complaints submitted by citizens and emphasized the need for swift and effective resolution.
Public Grievance Redressal a Top Priority for GHMC
Addressing the officials at the session, Commissioner Karnan said,
“There should be no negligence in grievance redressal. Each complaint must be addressed promptly, and recurring issues should not be allowed.”

The Commissioner reviewed 66 complaints submitted during Monday’s public hearing. These included:
- 32 complaints to the Town Planning Department
- 8 each to the Tax and Sanitation Departments
- 5 to the Engineering Department
- 3 to the Urban Biodiversity Department
- 1 each to the Veterinary, Kukatpally Zone, Vigilance, Land & Water Supply (LWS), Administration, Estate, and Finance Departments
- 3 grievances were received via phone-in calls
Grievance Stats from GHMC Zones
In addition to the headquarters, 93 complaints were registered across the six GHMC zones:
- 33 each in Kukatpally and Secunderabad zones
- 18 in Serilingampally zone
- 4 each in LB Nagar and Charminar zones
- 1 in the Khairatabad zone
The public hearing also highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination to address grievances swiftly and avoid repetition of unresolved issues.
159 Resource Groups Set for Public Interaction
As part of its citizen outreach, GHMC has established 159 Resource Groups (RGs) to facilitate direct interaction between the public and officials. These RGs will function as nodal points for grievance resolution and citizen feedback, enhancing transparency and accountability in urban governance.
Senior Officials Join the Prajavani Program
Several senior GHMC officials were present during the public hearing, including:
- Additional Commissioners Pankaja, Geetha Radhika, Satyanarayana, Venu Gopal, and Mangatayaru
- Chief Engineers Ratnakar and Nityananda
- Land Acquisition Deputy Collector Ram Naik
- Chief City Planners Gangadhar, Venkanna, Pradeep
- Deputy CCPs Sampada and Panasa Reddy
- SNDPP PV Rao, Housing EEP Ravinder, Electricity EEP Mamata
- Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pankaja
- Chief Veterinary Officer Abdul Vakeel
- Assistant Advertisement Officer Durdana Bhanu
