Whether the Centre plans to enhance its contribution to the disability pension component under IGNDPS. If there are no plans to increase the contribution, the reasons for the decision.

Owaisi’s intervention comes amid ongoing debates over the adequacy of social security measures for persons with disabilities. The IGNDPS, part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), provides monthly pensions to eligible individuals meeting the prescribed disability criteria.

Advocates for disability rights have long argued for expanding coverage to those with lower degrees of disability, increasing pension amounts, and ensuring timely disbursement. The government’s response to Owaisi’s queries is expected to shed light on whether reforms are on the horizon for the scheme. (Maxim News)
