Hyderabad Twin Reservoirs See Steady Water Level Rise
Hyderabad, August 18: The city’s key drinking water sources, Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, are witnessing a steady increase in water levels as moderate inflows continue.
At Osman Sagar, the water level has reached 1,787.00 feet, storing 3.221 TMC of water against its Full Tank Level (FTL) of 1,790.00 feet. With an inflow of 700 cusecs, the reservoir is inching closer to capacity. Currently, there is no outflow, and all gates remain closed while officials monitor the situation.

Himayat Sagar is also maintaining healthy levels, with water standing at 1,761.90 feet and a storage of 2.586 TMC, just short of its FTL of 1,763.50 feet. The reservoir is receiving 500 cusecs of inflow, while an outflow of 330 cusecs is being maintained. To regulate this, one gate has been opened by one foot for a controlled release downstream.
The twin lakes, often called Hyderabad’s lifelines, are providing much-needed relief as monsoon rains continue to replenish their catchments.
Authorities have assured that levels are being closely monitored, and appropriate measures will be taken based on rainfall in the coming days.
