Ganesh Immersion In Hyderabad: Holiday Declared On Sept. 6
- Holiday Declared on September 6 for Ganesh Idol Immersion in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal Districts
Hyderabad, September 3: The Telangana government has declared a general holiday on September 6, 2025 (Saturday) for Ganesh idol immersion processions across the twin cities of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. This decision aims to facilitate smooth conduct of the large-scale Ganesh Nimajjan Shobhayatra scheduled for that day, which witnesses massive participation from devotees.
Second Saturday in October Declared a Working Day
To compensate for the declared holiday, the government has announced that October 11, 2025 (Second Saturday) will be observed as a working day for government offices. This adjustment ensures that the official work schedule remains unaffected by the additional holiday provided for the immersion festivities.
The state administration took this step keeping in view the heavy traffic diversions, security measures, and large congregations that mark Ganesh idol immersion in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts. The Ganesh Nimajjan Shobhayatra is one of the largest annual religious events in Telangana, drawing thousands of devotees and involving elaborate arrangements by the police, GHMC, and other civic authorities.
Holiday Applies to Twin Cities and Key Districts
The order clearly states that the holiday on September 6 is applicable to offices, educational institutions, and government establishments in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. Essential services, however, will function as usual. The government emphasized that the working day adjustment on October 11 will help maintain the official calendar without affecting public administration.
Salar Jung Museum will also remain closed to the public on 06.09.2025 (Saturday) on account of Ganesh Immersion.
This move aligns with the long-standing practice of providing a general holiday during major religious events in the state, ensuring public convenience and smooth execution of the immersion processions.
