A new controversy has erupted in Bihar’s political circles after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s photo went missing from posters displayed at a Mahagathbandhan press meet. The opposition parties had gathered at a city hotel to formally announce their candidate for the post of Chief Minister in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. While the posters prominently featured Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav at the centre, smaller images of other alliance leaders were also placed around him. However, the complete absence of Rahul Gandhi’s photo drew immediate attention, sparking speculation about the Congress party’s waning influence within the alliance.

The BJP reacted swiftly to the development, accusing the opposition front of disrespecting the Congress leadership. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala took to social media platform X to criticize the Mahagathbandhan, saying, “Until yesterday, Rahul Gandhi was the face of the alliance. But now it is clear that the Congress party has no respect. This alliance has no goal or vision, except chaos, division and hope for positions.” His remarks underscored the ruling party’s attempt to highlight fractures within the opposition bloc.

Meanwhile, the issue has become a trending topic online, with images of the poster going viral across social media platforms. Political observers see this as both a symbolic and strategic sign of shifting alliances, as Tejashwi Yadav continues to emerge as the leading face of the opposition in Bihar. However, Congress workers in the state have reportedly expressed disappointment, viewing the omission as a deliberate slight to their party’s stature.

The controversy comes just weeks before the state’s Assembly elections, adding another layer of political intrigue to an already competitive campaign season. As debates intensify, both the Congress and RJD leadership are expected to face questions about the message this omission sends to their cadre and voters ahead of the crucial polls.
