Jaishankar Criticizes Performance Of The United Nations
Delhi/Internet/Hyderabad, Oct 25 (Maxim News): External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has faulted the performance of the United Nations. He has severely criticized the United Nations, saying that the organization has become gridlocked. It is acting unilaterally. It has forgotten representation. He said that the organization has lost its credibility by failing to take decisions on terrorism and world progress. He was speaking at the 80th anniversary celebrations of the UN in New Delhi.
He said that India is a strong country in the United Nations. But the world organization is currently in crisis. He criticized that it is not performing its legitimate and effective work. Jaishankar said that it should be understood that not everything is right in the United Nations. He said that the decisions taken by the organization are not a guide for the member countries. He said that the organization is not solving the problems that exist around the world.
He said that all the discussions taking place in the UN are being conducted unilaterally and the working method of the organization has become gridlocked. He said that reforms in the United Nations have been stopped, and in addition to that, financial problems are now arising. Jaishankar reminded that changes should be made in the UN Security Council and permanent membership should be given to Japan, Germany and Brazil along with India.
He said that the UN has failed to take action against terrorist organizations or countries that support them. He accused China of preventing sanctions from being imposed on Pakistan for the Pahalgam terror attack. (Maxim News)
