Drunk Drivers Are Human Bombs, Warns Sajjanar After Bus Tragedy
Hyderabad, Oct. 26 (Maxim News) : Responding to the horrific Kurnool bus accident that claimed 20 lives, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar issued a stern warning, calling drunk drivers “terrorists” and “human bombs” who destroy innocent lives.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said that the negligence of one person has taken the lives of 20, and questioned, “What else do you call those who come onto the roads intoxicated and kill innocent people, if not terrorists and human bombs?”.
The Commissioner highlighted the immense mental anguish inflicted on numerous families due to this one reckless act. He asked, “Who gave you the right to take the lives of others for your fun and pleasure?”.
He urged the public to be cautious of such “terrorists” and “human bombs” moving around in society and to immediately report their movements to Dial 100 or the local police.
He warned that if such individuals are ignored, they will cause immense loss of life on the roads.
Sajjanar emphasized that this was not a mere road mishap but a “preventable massacre” and a “criminal act of negligence that annihilated entire families within seconds”.
He pointed out that the biker, Shiva Shankar, was under the influence of alcohol, and his decision to drive in that state turned a moment of arrogance into a tragedy of unimaginable scale.
The Commissioner stood firmly by his statement, reiterating that drunk drivers are terrorists in every sense as they destroy lives, families, and futures.
The Commissioner also posted the CCTV footage of the biker, Shiva Shankar, which has since gone viral.
The footage reportedly shows Shankar and his friend, Erri Swamy, drinking at a dhaba before the crash. Minutes later, Shankar is seen refueling his motorcycle before losing control and causing the devastating collision.
Sajjanar stressed that the Hyderabad Police would adopt a zero-tolerance stance against drunk driving, with no leniency, no exceptions, and no mercy for those who endanger innocent lives. (Maxim News)
