- BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao calls CM’s comments disgraceful and irresponsible
- Controversy grows as political leaders unite in support of Indian Army
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded an immediate public apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for what he described as “shameful” and “insulting” remarks about the Indian Army. The controversy erupted following Revanth Reddy’s statement during his Jubilee Hills by-election campaign, where he claimed, “When Pakistan kicked us, we failed to counter.” Many saw this comment as derogatory to the courage and integrity of India’s armed forces.
KTR reacted sharply to the remarks, asserting that such statements are unbecoming of a person in the Chief Minister’s position. He said, “To insult the Indian Army merely to score political points in an election rally is a new low, even by Revanth Reddy’s standards.” The BRS leader insisted that the Chief Minister withdraw his statement and issue an unconditional public apology to the Indian Army.
Expanding on his objection, KTR highlighted the dedication and sacrifice of soldiers, noting, “It takes immense hard work, dedication, commitment and love for the country to join the armed forces and put one’s life on the line for the nation.” He emphasized that civilians enjoy safety and comfort thanks to soldiers who “stand guard at the borders, enduring the most cruel and difficult conditions.”
KTR also questioned the intent behind Revanth Reddy’s words, adding, “What made you belittle our Army and glorify Pakistan? What were you trying to achieve by humiliating our brave soldiers?” He took aim at the Chief Minister’s past controversies, saying, “For a man who was once caught with bags of cash, it is perhaps natural to worship goondas and rowdy sheeters. But as the Chief Minister of Telangana, you have a duty to show dignity and patriotism. Stop insulting the Indian Army and stop praising an enemy nation.”
According to KTR, the remarks deeply hurt the sentiments of “crores of Indians who hold the Army in the highest regard.” He urged Revanth Reddy to act with responsibility and honor the armed forces rather than “belittle them for your political theatrics.” The BJP has also condemned the comments and joined in demanding an apology from the Chief Minister.
