WATCH: ATM Cash Van Driver Flees With Rs. 17 lakh In Old City

Hyderabad, June 23: A private cash van driver allegedly fled with Rs 17 lakh meant for ATM cash loading in Hyderabad’s Old City, triggering a police hunt in the IS Sadan area.
The theft came to light on the Rein Bazar to Santosh Nagar main road. Police said the driver escaped with a trunk box containing the cash while the ATM replenishment team was on duty.
According to investigators, the van crew was carrying out routine cash delivery to ATMs when the driver allegedly executed a pre planned theft. He reportedly took the trunk box loaded with cash and fled the spot on a two wheeler.

The staff noticed the missing cash soon after and alerted senior officials. A complaint was then lodged at IS Sadan Police Station, following which police registered a case and began an investigation.

Police scan CCTV footage in ATM cash van theft case

Police have collected CCTV footage from the area to trace the driver’s movements and identify the escape route. Special teams have also been formed to track down the accused and recover the stolen money.
Investigators suspect the driver planned the theft in advance. They are now examining the cash van route, staff movement and security protocol followed during the ATM cash loading operation.
The incident has again raised concerns over safety checks and monitoring systems in private ATM cash transport operations. Police are continuing the probe from all angles.
