Allegation Against Jagtial MLA Sanjay Over Rs.100 Cr Land Grab
- Former municipal chairperson Bhoga Sravani levels charges in Jagtial
- Demand for transparent probe and collective political action grows
Former municipal chairperson and BJP state executive member Bhoga Sravani has accused Jagtial MLA Sanjay of being involved in a land grabbing controversy worth Rs. 100 crore. Addressing a press conference at the party office in Jagtial district headquarters on Friday, she made strong remarks, questioning the MLA’s role in what she described as a major misuse of public property.
Sravani said that when she served as the municipal chairperson, she faced intense pressure whenever she raised concerns regarding the alleged petrol pump land issue. According to her, the controversy surrounding the petrol pump’s ownership and related encroachments had forced her to resign from her position. She recalled that on several occasions, both before and after her resignation, she had held discussions and media briefings about the petrol pump and municipal land grabbing issues.
Explaining the background, she said that while widening Yavar Road, a five-foot alignment was drawn as per the master plan. However, she alleged that pressure was mounted on her to alter the divider’s position to prevent the petrol pump matter from surfacing. “MLA Sanjay Kumar made me stand on the road to protect those involved in encroachments. This is our personal matter,” she quoted, claiming he told her not to interfere. Sravani questioned why the MLA was worried about her stance if the petrol pump had all required permissions.
She further alleged that despite being aware of the facts, MLA Sanjay continued to manipulate the situation politically. She pointed out legal irregularities in land ownership documents, questioning how land could have been purchased in 1952 under a Kibala when the Indian Stamp Act came into force only in 1949. She urged the district Collector to ensure that the Kibala documents are translated publicly for clarity, as no municipal records were found on the issue during her tenure.
Sravani appreciated senior leader Jeevan Reddy for continuing to highlight this issue and proposed that an all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC) be formed under his leadership to safeguard municipal lands. She added that Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind would extend his cooperation to protect public property. She criticized the local MLA for taking credit for urban development funds sanctioned by the central government and said that MP Aravind was working to make Jagtial an educational hub, including establishing a central school.
