Congress BLA App Aims to Detect Duplicate Voters During SIR

Hyderabad, June 26: Hyderabad District Congress Committee president Syed Khalid Saifullah on Friday said the Congress BLA App is helping Booth Level Agents identify possible duplicate voters, track voter mapping status and support citizens during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Addressing a training programme for BLAs in Hyderabad, Saifullah said the application was developed to strengthen booth-level voter verification through data-based monitoring. He said the app enables workers to review mapped and unmapped voters, identify anomalies and assist citizens in completing documentation required under the SIR process.

Congress BLA App Supports Electoral Verification

Saifullah said each registered BLA receives secure access through an OTP-based login. After logging in, users can access booth-wise voter information, voter mapping details and a section highlighting potential duplicate voters.

According to him, the system flags records where voter names, father’s names, house numbers or other identifiers appear similar. These cases can then be referred for verification.

He clarified that the application only supports verification and assistance. Any correction, deletion or modification of voter records would be carried out only through the official Election Commission process.

Saifullah said Congress volunteers had collected and analysed voter information across Hyderabad district. Data received in PDF format from electoral authorities was converted into Excel sheets and integrated into a booth-level database.

The app also displays the number of voters marked as mapped, unmapped and mapped with anomaly. He said this would help BLAs visit affected voters and assist them in correcting details or completing the mapping process.

In addition, the application provides updates on enrolment forms, including issued, submitted and returned applications. Saifullah said this would help monitor SIR progress and identify areas requiring support.

He said the voter mapping feature would allow field surveys in coordination with Booth Level Officers and help citizens understand documentation requirements.

Referring to duplicate entries, Saifullah said the app helps identify cases involving minor changes in spelling, age or address that may create multiple records. Such cases would be forwarded to election authorities for scrutiny.

He added that monitoring would continue beyond the current revision exercise and newly added voters would also be reviewed through Election Commission data.

Saifullah urged Congress BLAs and party workers to dedicate the next month to voter list verification. He said accurate electoral rolls are essential to protecting the rights of genuine voters and maintaining public confidence in the process.
