  • Telangana High Court gives government 4 weeks to file counter in Kaleshwaram case
  • Interim orders extended for KCR, Harish Rao, Smita Sabharwal, and SK Joshi

Hyderabad, Nov 12 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court has adjourned the hearing on the Kaleshwaram Commission case to the second week of January. The decision came after the court granted the state government four weeks to file its counter affidavit. The petitioners have been given three more weeks to respond to the government’s affidavit.

The bench also issued orders extending the existing interim relief granted earlier to several respondents, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, former minister T. Harish Rao, senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal, and former Irrigation Department Special Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi. The interim orders will remain in effect until the next hearing in January.

The High Court had earlier directed the state not to take any coercive action based on the findings or recommendations of the Kaleshwaram Commission. These interim directions were intended to protect the respondents until both sides presented their arguments and the court examined the full set of documents.

During today’s proceedings, the court observed that the matter involved detailed submissions from both the government and the petitioners, requiring sufficient time for replies and counter-statements. Therefore, it scheduled the next hearing for January while ensuring that the interim orders remain valid until then.

The Kaleshwaram Commission, which investigated aspects of the large-scale irrigation project, has been under legal scrutiny after petitions challenged its findings and alleged procedural lapses. The High Court’s latest order ensures status quo until all parties produce complete documentation before the bench in the upcoming session.
