According to police reports, the woman, belonging to an OBC caste, had been in a relationship with Yerra Chandrasekhar, who comes from a lower caste. Both had known each other for a long time in Rampally village under Farooqnagar mandal. A few days ago, they decided to marry against the wishes of her family and reportedly eloped to Hyderabad.

Angered by the marriage, the woman’s father, K. Venkatesh, along with other family members, tracked down Chandrasekhar’s elder brother, Yerra Rajasekhar, in the village on Saturday. They took him to the outskirts of the area, where they allegedly attacked him with sticks. Police said the accused later tied Rajasekhar’s hands and legs, doused him with fuel, and set him on fire, leading to his death on the spot.
