- National Highway 40 crash leaves two dead and several injured
A bus lorry collision on National Highway 40 claimed the lives of two natives of Jogulamba Gadwal district on Sunday morning. The victims, G Badrinath and Haritha, died on the spot after a lorry rammed into a private bus at Peraipally Mitta in Allagadda.
Around 32 passengers were travelling in the private bus from Hyderabad to Puducherry. The crash occurred after the passengers asked the bus driver to stop the vehicle for a short break. The driver parked the bus on the roadside. However, a lorry coming from behind hit the vehicle with force, according to reports. The impact resulted in severe damage and immediate casualties.
Meanwhile, eight passengers suffered grievous injuries in the accident. The condition of a few of them is reported to be critical. The injured were shifted to Government General Hospitals in Nandyal and Allagadda for treatment. Reports said medical teams began emergency care soon after the victims arrived. Local authorities also reached the accident site and helped move the injured.
The sudden accident has shocked families of the victims from Gadwal. Officials are yet to give further details on the condition of the critically injured passengers. However, the initial information confirms that only two deaths occurred at the scene. The incident again highlights the risks faced by travellers on busy national highways, especially during early morning hours when visibility and alertness can vary.
The report added that investigations are underway to understand the circumstances that led to the crash. The lorry driver’s actions and the position of the parked bus will form key parts of the inquiry. Authorities are expected to release more information after completing the preliminary assessment. The tragic collision has raised concerns about roadside parking practices and heavy vehicle movement on high speed corridors such as NH 40.
