They also say the merger needs about 60 days. The department already turned Gaddi Annaram into a circle under LB Nagar.

It changed the remaining areas into circles. It plans similar changes this time. It will reshape seven corporations and 20 municipalities into new circles.

The Telangana Core Urban Region holds key urban assets. It includes lakes and lands under special protection.

Hyderabad took charge of this responsibility in July 2024. Officials also prepared a report on area and population growth.

Officials said the region had 1.29 crore people in 2053 square kilometres in 2021. It holds GHMC limits. It also holds seven municipal corporations.

It holds 20 municipalities. It holds the cantonment area. It holds 33 village panchayats. It holds 61 industrial area authorities. Authorities merged this entire region into GHMC.

The 27 merged municipalities had 10,92,514 people in 2011. They also had 621 wards. They spread across 1,31,224 square kilometres.

The government merged 51 nearby villages with them. But it did not revise ward boundaries after the village merger. That step could add 20 more wards. Officials say this change will give balanced population levels.

The merger transforms Hyderabad into a larger city. GHMC has six zones and 30 circles now. The new plan adds 20 more circles from the merged areas. It also adds four more zones.

The city will then have 10 zones and 50 circles. Officials want each circle to hold four wards. They want each zone to hold five circles. They aim to create 200 wards across the new area. They say this plan ensures equal distribution.
Authorities expect the merger work to take 60 days. They must clear engineering bills. They must map open lands. They must list government lands. They must record any disputes.
