Constable Arrested for Stealing Imitation Rolex During Official Search in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A city police constable has been arrested for allegedly stealing an imitation Rolex watch during an official search operation, triggering serious concerns about internal discipline within the Hyderabad Police.

According to Film Nagar Police, the misconduct came to light during the review of video footage from a search conducted on November 25 at the residence of Bathini Shashikanth, who is being investigated in an impersonation and forgery case.

Constable Sriramula Sharan Kumar, posted at the CAR Headquarters and assigned to videograph the search, was seen discreetly lifting the watch without listing it in the seizure memo. His actions, unnoticed during the operation, were later exposed through another constable’s recording of the raid.

Following internal verification, authorities registered a separate FIR against Kumar under Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Kumar, who has also been serving as the Station House Officer’s driver at the Film Nagar Police Station, was arrested on November 28.

Police officials said he admitted to taking the watch, which was later recovered from his residence.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
