Petrol Mixed With Ethanol Is Environment Friendly: Beneficial For Farmers: Gadkari
Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 11 (Maxim News) : Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari made a key announcement about ethanol in the Lok Sabha today. He said that petrol mixed with ethanol is beneficial for farmers. He said that this has saved about 1.40 lakh crores of foreign exchange. In the wake of concerns being expressed about petrol mixed with ethanol, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari responded. He said that extensive tests have been done on ethanol petrol. He said that no adverse effect has been seen in cars using petrol mixed with ethanol.
Gadkari said in the Lok Sabha that the use of E-20 petrol is a very healthy development, it is a green change, there will be very less pollution with this petrol, and due to this, foreign exchange will also be saved a lot. He said that by mixing ethanol in petrol, 40 crores are being given to farmers for raw materials, and sugarcane and corn raw materials are being used for the manufacture of ethanol.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke. Through the implementation of the ethanol blending program, the minister said that the cost of importing crude fuel in the past is now being borne by the farmers. With this, farmers have not only become food producers, but also energy producers, he said. He said that in the last 11 years, from 2014 to July 2025, oil marketing companies have blended ethanol. The minister said that about 1.40 lakh crores have been saved in foreign exchange during that period. (Maxim News)
