Cold Snap Grip Telangana And Andhra Pradesh

A cold snap has tightened its hold over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, bringing sharp drops in temperature across several districts. Hyderabad and nearby regions also felt the impact as cold winds continued through the day. The Meteorological Department warned that the cold conditions may persist for at least two more days, and it advised caution for travellers during morning and evening hours. Officials urged extra care for the elderly and children as temperatures continued to fall.

Meanwhile, several districts in Telangana reported some of the season’s lowest temperatures. Adilabad, Nirmal and Asifabad recorded severe cold conditions. Adilabad touched 6.2 degrees Celsius. Medak reported 7.2 degrees, and Hanumakonda recorded 8.6 degrees. Nizamabad saw 11.4 degrees, while Hyderabad logged 12.2 degrees. The department said the cold conditions would likely continue over the weekend, and an orange alert was issued for 32 districts. Many places in and around Hyderabad registered single digit temperatures, leading to increased concern among residents.

In Andhra Pradesh, the cold snap hit the Manyam districts hard. Residents in these areas avoided stepping outdoors due to the chill. Conditions in Paderu and Araku worsened as water began to freeze. Temperatures were recorded at 4 degrees Celsius in both areas. Fields also froze, which disrupted farming work, and farmers could not attend to their lands early in the morning. The minimum temperature in Minumuluru fell to 4 degrees, and Chintapalli recorded 5.5 degrees. The cold did not ease even after 9 am, adding to the discomfort of people in the region.

The continuing drop in temperature across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh led to rising concern in many areas. Authorities expect the cold spell to remain for a few more days, and they advised people to stay alert and follow weather updates during this period.
