Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar issued a clear warning ahead of New Year celebrations to prevent inconvenience to commuters.
During festivals and major events, demand for transport usually rises. Therefore, many passengers fear sudden fare hikes or ride cancellations.
Meanwhile, New Year celebrations across Hyderabad have pushed demand even higher. Police said some drivers may try to exploit this rush.
Hence, the city police decided to act in advance to protect the public.

Commissioner Sajjanar said police will not tolerate drivers who refuse rides or demand more than the booked fare.
Sajjanar warned that drivers violating rules will face strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act. According to police, action will be taken under Section 178(3)(b) against offenders.
The warning applies to both cab and auto drivers operating during New Year celebrations.
Police said commuters should not hesitate to report problems. If any driver refuses a ride or demands extra money, passengers should file a complaint immediately.

They must share the vehicle number, time, location, and ride details. Police also asked passengers to send screenshots of booking details when possible.
