Larsen and Toubro Respond To Telangana Notices On Medigadda Restoration
Hyderabad, Dec 31 (Maxim News): Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has responded to Telangana government notices, stating it is ready to undertake Medigadda barrage restoration works within the defect liability period.
The construction major clarified that it would proceed with Medigadda restoration works as directed by the state government. However, it reiterated that pending dues related to the project must be cleared. Meanwhile, the government has warned the firm to begin repairs immediately, irrespective of outstanding payments.
Officials confirmed that the Medigadda barrage damage occurred during the defect liability period.
Therefore, the Telangana government formally instructed L and T to complete restoration works within a fixed deadline. As a result, the company conveyed its willingness to comply while maintaining its demand for payment clearance.
Medigadda barrage restoration under scrutiny after collapse
The Medigadda barrage is part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project constructed during the previous BRS government.
The barrage was completed in 2019 and suffered damage the same year following floods. Subsequently, structural distress worsened, leading to serious concerns.
After assuming office, the Congress government treated the issue as a priority. Therefore, it ordered a detailed investigation by central agencies. Following inspections, these agencies reported defects in construction quality and design.
Based on these findings, the Telangana government issued notices to L and T, demanding immediate restoration.
Meanwhile, officials stressed that public safety and project stability remain paramount. The Medigadda restoration process is expected to be closely monitored as accountability and structural integrity remain under focus. (Maxim News)
