Centre Political Stance On Telangana Handloom Weavers: Ktr Letter To Union Minister

Hyderabad, Jan 19 (Maxim News):  BRS Working President and former Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed his deep anger over the deliberate delay and discriminatory attitude being adopted by the BJP government at the Centre in the matter of sanctioning the Sircilla Mega Power Loom cluster. He has written a letter to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh to this effect.

He reminded that the demand for the establishment of a mega power loom cluster in Sircilla is not a recent one, but that they have been fighting continuously for the last ten years. He said that it is unfair that many letters written to the former textile ministers, many personal meetings and official appeals as a minister, party working president and Sircilla legislator, have not met with any positive decision from the Center so far.

Starting from Arun Jaitley and Smriti Irani to today’s minister, we have defeated everyone. The BJP MPs who won from the state have become mere ceremonial statues due to the discrimination of the Centre. Even though the central teams themselves have confirmed that Sircilla has all the qualifications as per the CPCDS rules, what is the secret behind setting aside the files? He questioned. Why is Telangana so hostile to the Centre? He questioned. This is not just negligence. KTR flagged the Centre’s discrimination against the development of Telangana, especially the leaders here.

He said that Sircilla is like the heart of the Telangana textile industry. He reminded that Sircilla has more than 30 thousand power looms and provides employment to thousands of families. He said that the Center, which has sanctioned mega clusters to areas in other states with less capacity and less labor force than Sircilla, is the height of regional discrimination by leaving aside Sircilla, which has all the qualifications.

KTR explained that the Telangana government under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has fulfilled every requirement for setting up a mega cluster, including land allocation, uninterrupted power, water, single window permissions, state-level incentives. Despite repeatedly saying that all these are ready, it is shameful that the Union Ministry has kept this proposal pending without giving any technical or financial reasons, he said. On the one hand, the Centre, which boasts about ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, is showing double standards and lack of sincerity in the matter of Telangana.

KTR said, has been in crisis since the Congress rule came to power in the state. He expressed his concern that we are hearing news of suicides again. The previous BRS government stood by the leaders. But today the situation is changing. At such a crucial time, the Center should intervene and sanction the mega cluster, but serious delay will only hurt the leaders, he expressed his anger.

KTR alleged that despite having 8 BJP MPs representing Telangana and having a place in the Union Cabinet, they have failed to make the voice of the Sircilla leaders heard. He demanded that the Sircilla ‘Mega Power Loom Cluster’ be officially announced in the next Union Budget and this ten-year injustice be put to an end. (Maxim News)
