Hyderabad Police Dismiss Rumours of Gold Rate Linked Crimes

Hyderabad, Jan. 29 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar on Thursday dismissed social media claims linking a rise in gold prices to an alleged surge in chain snatching incidents in the city, calling such reports false and misleading.

The Commissioner said rumours suggesting a sharp increase in chain snatchings and the presence of international crime gangs operating in Hyderabad were completely untrue.

Sajjanar stressed that these claims were being circulated without verification and were intended to create unnecessary fear.

In a post on social media platform X, Sajjanar urged citizens not to forward unverified messages or fear mongering content. He said spreading false information could disturb public order and mislead people about the city’s safety situation.

The Commissioner warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals spreading false propaganda on social media platforms. He said the police were closely monitoring online content related to public safety.

Sajjanar stated that Hyderabad remained a safe city and that law and order were under control. He also appealed to residents to cooperate with the police in maintaining peace and security.

He advised citizens to immediately contact the police by dialling 100 if they noticed any suspicious activity. Reassuring the public, he said ensuring the safety of residents was the responsibility of the Hyderabad City Police.
