HYDRA, GHMC Continue Fire Safety Inspections, Six Shops Sealed in Hyderabad
HYDRA | Hyderabad, Jan. 30 (Maxim News) : Fire safety inspections continued for the second consecutive day on Friday, with HYDRA, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, and allied departments conducting joint enforcement drives across the city and sealing six shops for serious violations.
The inspections were intensified in the backdrop of recent fire incidents.
Teams comprising officials from GHMC, HYDRA, the Fire Services Department, and the Electricity Department inspected commercial establishments and initiated action against those floating fire safety norms.
Officials found several shops operating without mandatory building permissions and fire no objection certificates.
Cellars were illegally converted into godowns, increasing fire risk. Authorities noted unsafe storage of chemicals, paint cans, mattresses, batteries, and furniture manufacturing materials in confined spaces.
In many buildings, automatic water sprinklers, smoke detectors, and functional fire extinguishers were absent.
