Congress Wins Thorrur Municipality Chairperson Post

Hyderabad, Feb. 17 (Maxim News): Tension ended in Thorrur Municipality of Mahabubabad district after a high drama election. The Indian National Congress won the chairperson post through a draw of lots.

Congress councillor Thunam Shravan became the new chairperson. The election saw a tough fight between Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Both parties secured equal votes. As a result, officials could not declare a winner immediately.

Therefore, they followed the rules and conducted a draw of lots. Luck favoured Thunam Shravan. Officials then announced him as the chairperson.

Thorrur is often seen as a stronghold of BRS. Hence, the Congress victory has gained political importance in the region.

Meanwhile, tension gripped the municipal office during the election. Workers of both parties gathered in large numbers. Soon, pushing and shouting broke out between them.

Police stepped in and controlled the situation. After the result, Congress workers celebrated the victory. (Maxim News)
