People’s Hard Work Is Behind The Freebies Given By The Government: Supreme Court

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (Maxim News): The Supreme Court has once again reacted strongly to the free schemes being offered by political parties in the country. The comments made by Justice Suryakant’s bench during the hearing of the case related to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Company have now become a topic of discussion across the country. The court warned that free schemes will hamper the economic development of the country.

The court, which has taken up the issue of free electricity supply and financial situation in Tamil Nadu, has directed the government to explain where the funds for the Electricity Distribution Company (TANGEDCO) are coming from. It has asked it to file an affidavit with full details on this.

Key points raised by the Supreme Court:

Why free for the rich?: The court agreed that it is the government’s responsibility to provide education and basic necessities to the poor. However, it objected to providing free electricity to big landlords as well. ‘When you want a facility, you have to pay, right? Big landlords are using lights and machines unnecessarily, saying it is free,’ said Justice Suryakant.
