Upon learning about Ganesh’s death, Vasantha is suspected to have first attempted self-harm by inflicting injuries on her hand and neck. Later, she allegedly hanged herself in her hostel room.

While police and university authorities stated that Vasantha died due to emotional distress, fellow students expressed suspicion over the injuries found on her body.

Angry students staged a protest and laid siege to the Vice-Chancellor’s chamber, demanding that the administration reveal the truth behind the incident. The situation briefly turned tense on campus.

Police are currently investigating multiple angles, including the content of Ganesh’s last phone call, whether parental opposition to their relationship played a role, and why the couple may have felt pressured to stay apart despite reportedly being relatives.
