US Israel Iran: Protests In Hyderabad Old City After Khamenei Killed in Strikes
Hyderabad, Mar 1 (Maxim News): Protests broke out in parts of the DarulShifa of Old City area of Hyderabad after reports emerged that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a major US-Israel strike on Tehran.
Demonstrators gathered on Sunday carrying photos of Khamenei and expressing solidarity.
Large crowds of men and women assembled in several localities, holding his photos and raising slogans.
The demonstrations so far have remained peaceful under police supervision, and there have been no reports of clashes or serious disorder as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
Law enforcement increased patrols in sensitive pockets of the Old City to ensure law and order as the protest unfolded. Public activity in most parts of the city continued normally.
The protests in Hyderabad come amid widespread reactions across South Asia following the reported death of Khamenei in a joint U.S. and Israeli airstrike on Iran’s capital.
Similar demonstrations have taken place in other Indian cities, including protests by Shia groups in Lucknow and Kashmir, where communities have marched in protest against the killing and the military strikes.
In Iran, state media and multiple international outlets report that Tehran and other major cities were struck in a major escalation of military action by U.S. and Israeli forces, with significant casualties among Iranian leaders and widespread destruction of military and defence installations.
