Hyderabad, July 19: Expelled BJP leader Raja Singh has questioned the party’s confidence about winning the upcoming mayoral elections in the newly reorganised municipal corporations of Hyderabad, challenging its leaders to first prove their strength by winning even half the seats in one corporation.
The remarks come as the Telangana government prepares for elections after restructuring the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate civic bodies: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
Raja Singh Questions BJP’s Electoral Claims
With reports suggesting that civic elections could be held by the end of the year, BJP leaders have repeatedly expressed confidence that the party will win all three mayoral posts.
Responding to these claims, Raja Singh dismissed the party’s projections.
“Whether in the media, public meetings or newspapers, BJP leaders keep saying they will win all three mayoral seats. Forget three. First show that you can win even half the seats in one mayoral corporation,” he said.
His remarks have gone viral on social media and sparked political discussion ahead of the anticipated municipal elections.
The BJP has not yet officially responded to Raja Singh’s challenge.
