Baghdad/Internet/Hyderabad, Mar 13 (Maxim News): A US plane crashed in Iraq on Thursday night. The US military confirmed this. Officials confirmed that a KC-135 refueling plane belonging to the military crashed. It seems that two planes were involved in the incident. However, officials said that neither enemy nor friendly firing took place. The US Central Command said that rescue efforts are currently underway in western Iraq. However, officials said in a statement that another plane involved in the same incident landed safely.
It is still unclear why the KC-135 plane crashed. It is only a refueling plane. That is, it refuels other planes in the air. However, it is believed that it may have collided with something in the air. Refueling planes play a key role in wars. Refueling planes provide fuel to fighter planes and bombers that travel long distances. This is a very expensive affair. It has been identified as a huge logistical operation. Currently, a large number of fighter planes are flying in the air. Refueling is also needed more at this stage. It is believed that the refueling plane crashed due to an unexpected accident in that tension.
During refueling, another plane has to approach the tank. The plane taking fuel… the refueling plane comes down. After that, the tanker is operated with lights. Plugging takes place between the two planes. Once contact is made… fuel is supplied for a few minutes. During this time, there is a very small gap between the two planes. Usually, this operation is carried out at night. However, the pilots of the planes that carry out the refueling process require a lot of skill. The plane lights are switched off during refueling. This is because this process is carried out with the aim of not falling into the eyes of enemy aircraft.
The US Central Command said the crash of the military refueling plane was “unexplained” because it occurred in Iraqi airspace. The KC-135 aircraft typically has three pilots. A pilot, a co-pilot and a boom operator work together. The US is believed to have about 400 refueling tanks. (Maxim News)
