Lt. Col. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Iranian military’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, made the statement in a prerecorded video. The video was aired on state television. Meanwhile, his comments followed reports that the US had sent a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran through Pakistan.

Zolfaghari sharply criticized the US position. “The strategic power you used to talk about has turned into a strategic failure,” he said. “The one claiming to be a global superpower would have already gotten out of this mess if it could. Don’t dress up your defeat as an agreement. Your era of empty promises has come to an end.”

He also questioned the credibility of US claims. “Have your internal conflicts reached the point where you are negotiating with yourselves?” Zolfaghari said. His remarks directly countered statements from Washington about possible diplomatic engagement.

Furthermore, he made Iran’s stance clear on any potential agreement. “Our first and last word has been the same from day one, and it will stay that way: Someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you,” he said. “Not now, not ever.”

However, the comments come at a time of heightened tension. The reported ceasefire proposal indicates efforts to reduce conflict. Yet, Iran’s response signals firm resistance to such overtures. Meanwhile, both sides continue to exchange strong statements.

Therefore, the situation remains uncertain. Diplomatic efforts appear stalled, and public rhetoric has intensified. The Iranian military’s remarks highlight deep divisions between the two sides. As a result, the prospects for immediate talks remain unclear.
