- AIC-IIITH and EPAM back GreenTech innovation for climate action
- Program offers ₹5 lakh grant, mentorship, and research support
Hyderabad, March 28: The 4th cohort of the Akash EPAM Social Impact Innovation Program (ESIIP) has selected six GreenTech startups focused on climate action. AIC-IIITH Foundation, in partnership with EPAM Systems, announced the cohort after a rigorous selection process involving over 130 applicants nationwide.
A total of 11 shortlisted applicants pitched to a jury, and six ventures were chosen for their potential to advance India’s UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially Climate Action (SDG 13). The selected startups are working on solutions across sectors such as carbon capture, circularity, smart mobility, green construction, and climate financing. They are using technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and robotics.
Meanwhile, the program aims to bridge the gap between academic research and market-ready innovation. It provides a comprehensive platform for growth. Each selected startup will receive a ₹5 lakh grant. In addition, they will gain access to labs, faculty, and the Smart City Lab Test Bed at IIIT Hyderabad. The program also includes mentorship and business coaching from industry experts to help scale their impact.
“The 4th edition of ESIIP comes at a critical juncture where the demand for sustainable, tech-driven solutions has never been higher,” said Ramesh Loganathan. “This program provides a timely platform for startups to refine their research and scale innovations that directly address India’s climate and environmental priorities,” he added.
The selected startups represent advanced “Tech-for-Good” innovations. These include solutions such as wall-climbing autonomous rovers, digital twins, IoT-driven systems, and cement-free construction materials. Therefore, the program highlights scalable approaches to pressing environmental challenges.
The selection process involved a 14-member jury from organizations including IIITH, Google, EPAM Systems Inc., and others. The panel evaluated startups not only for financial viability but also for technical strength and their ability to address complex sustainability issues.
“At EPAM, our commitment to social impact innovation is grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from collaboration, responsibility and sustained action. We work closely with startups, communities and ecosystem partners to nurture ideas that address real-world challenges: whether it is climate-focused programs, startup ecosystem support or digital skills and literacy. Our focus is on enabling such kind of initiatives so they deliver tangible, long-term value where it matters most.” said Srinivas Reddy.
