He said that the Assam CM was “highly corrupt and hate-mongering.” He added that the Chief Minister was aware that his party’s “Babbar Sherers will send him to jail.” The remarks came as part of an aggressive campaign ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi also outlined key promises if Congress comes to power. He said, “We are saying it very clearly. We have said in the manifesto that we will give SC and ST status to 6 communities in Assam. We will give a daily wage of Rs. 450 to tea workers. If Congress is given power, we will implement many welfare schemes in a short time. We will implement six major decisions. We will deposit monthly financial assistance in the accounts of every woman without any conditions. We will give Rs. 50,000 if she wants to do business. We will take action against the accused in the Zubeen Garg case within 100 days of coming to power,’ Rahul said.”

He further criticized the functioning of the Assam government. He claimed that the state was being controlled from Delhi. He said that while Trump controls Narendra Modi, Modi and Amit Shah control the Assam Chief Minister and run the state from Delhi.

In addition, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Himanta Biswa Sarma made serious mistakes and that his family members were also involved in corruption. He said that action would be taken against those responsible. He also referred to Zubeen Garg, stating that the singer had worked for unity in Assam and had not misbehaved with anyone.
