Puttaparthi / Hyderabad, April 15 (Maxim News): A massive explosion in Kummara Bandlapalli village of Kadiri mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district killed four people and injured six others on Wednesday. The blast occurred inside a house and caused severe damage in the area.
Initially, officials suspected that gas cylinders had exploded. However, the investigation later pointed to a different cause. Police and forensic teams found key evidence at the site. As a result, they now suspect that stored detonators triggered the explosion.
Local residents and police rushed to the spot soon after the blast. They rescued the injured and shifted them to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, doctors are providing emergency treatment to the victims.
During inspection, police found a drilling machine inside the damaged house. This equipment is usually used to install explosive materials. Therefore, investigators suspect that the house stored illegal detonators.
Moreover, officials questioned why explosive materials were kept in a residential area. They are also examining who brought and stored the detonators at the location.
In addition, a bomb squad team visited the site and collected samples. They will analyse the materials to confirm the exact cause of the blast.
Police said they will take strict action against those responsible for illegal storage. Meanwhile, the investigation continues to identify all persons involved.
The incident has raised serious safety concerns in the region. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious storage of hazardous materials. (Maxim News)
