Hyderabad, August 9: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy greeted tribal communities on Sunday.
They issued their messages on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The leaders highlighted tribal culture, traditions, rights and contribution to nature conservation.
The Governor extended his greetings to Adivasi communities across Telangana. He described their culture, traditions and traditional knowledge as an important part of India’s heritage.
Shukla said tribal communities have protected forests, water resources and biodiversity for generations. He also urged society to respect their rights, dignity, identity and way of life.
Telangana leaders highlight tribal rights and heritage
The Governor called for equal opportunities and inclusive development for indigenous communities. He also stressed the need to protect their heritage while supporting a sustainable future.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also extended his greetings to tribal communities. He said indigenous people maintain a close relationship with nature and preserve their traditions across generations.
Reddy said tribal knowledge, culture and collective way of life offer important lessons in nature conservation. He called for greater attention to their rights, welfare, development and self respect.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of indigenous communities in preserving cultural traditions. He said society should work together to protect their identity and heritage.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao also greeted tribal communities on the occasion.
Rama Rao described Adivasis as guardians of nature and symbols of India’s diverse traditions. He referred to tribal reverence for forests, trees, anthills and animals.
He also invoked tribal leader Kumram Bheem and his slogan of Jal, Jungle, Zameen. Rama Rao said the legacy continues to represent tribal rights and their connection with natural resources.
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed annually on August 9. The day highlights the rights, cultures and contributions of indigenous communities worldwide.
