Hyderabad, April 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Women Reservation Bill commitment remains firm despite the recent setback in Parliament. He stated that efforts will continue until women secure rightful representation.
Addressing the nation, Modi said the government will persist with the Women Reservation Bill commitment. He stressed that obstacles will be removed with time. Therefore, he underlined continuity in pushing the reform.
The Prime Minister also criticised the Opposition, especially Indian National Congress and its allies. He accused them of opposing women’s reservation and using diversionary tactics during the debate.
Women Reservation Bill Commitment Will Continue
Meanwhile, Modi said the Women Reservation Bill commitment goes beyond political credit. He noted that although the Bill lacked the required majority, public support remains strong.
He added that the government may not have secured the needed votes. However, he claimed it has broad support from women across the country. Thus, he said the effort will continue.
The Prime Minister also linked the Opposition’s stance to past resistance to reforms. He cited measures such as GST, Aadhaar, and digital payments.
Concluding his remarks, Modi said the Women Reservation Bill commitment is about ensuring fair representation. He added that the government will not step back from its objective.
