CBI Arrests Telangana Postal Official In Bribery Case

CBI | Hyderabad, May 9: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Inspector of Posts attached to the Wanaparthy Division in Telangana for allegedly accepting a Rs. 30,000 bribe from a complainant.

The agency registered a corruption and extortion case on May 7 against the Superintendent of Posts, the Inspector of Posts and some unidentified persons.

According to the complaint, the officials had already collected Rs. 1.3 lakh from the complainant. They allegedly demanded another Rs. 30,000 to process and release substitute salary dues.

CBI officials conducted a trap operation after receiving the complaint. During the operation, the Inspector of Posts was allegedly caught while accepting the bribe amount.

CBI conducts searches in Telangana bribery case

The accused was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases in Hyderabad on Friday. The court remanded him to judicial custody till May 20.

As part of the investigation, CBI teams conducted searches at two locations linked to the accused. One search took place at Badangpet in Rangareddy district, while another was carried out at Warangal Cross Road in Khammam.

Officials said the investigation was continuing to identify the role of other persons involved in the case.
