Hyderabad, May 9: T. Harish Rao on Friday criticised the law and order situation in Telangana and alleged that crime control had weakened under the present government.
Speaking to the media, the senior BRS leader referred to recent incidents in Karimnagar and Hyderabad. He claimed that criminals involved in major thefts were escaping without being caught.
Harish Rao cited reports circulating on social media regarding a gold theft case in Karimnagar. He alleged that the accused had already fled the country after committing the crime in broad daylight.
He also referred to a recent undercover operation conducted by Malkajgiri CP Sumathi in Hyderabad. He said the operation reflected concerns over women’s safety during night hours in the city.
Harish Rao targets government over policing
Harish Rao further raised concerns over the reported murder case involving the wife of a senior police officer in Hyderabad. He questioned the police response and alleged delays in tracing the accused.
The BRS leader also criticised the government over attacks on political offices and alleged harassment of opposition leaders. He claimed that several cases were being filed against BRS leaders and activists.
Harish Rao stated that Telangana was once recognised for maintaining strong law and order standards. He alleged that the present situation was damaging Hyderabad’s image.
He also said the recent incidents highlighted growing concerns over public safety, especially for women and political workers.
